Verbier Off-Piste Terrain

  • Verbier is known as the freeride capital of Europe and when you look up at the surrounding peaks and their impressive chutes, gullies and couloirs you will know why!
  • Verbier has some of the most challenging terrain in the Alps which is easily accessible directly from the lift system or after only the briefest of hikes. However, to find many of the best lines requires local knowledge and a degree of confidence. As a result many lines of powder remain untracked for days after a snowfall – which is great news for anyone on a Powder Extreme clinic! There are also over 250 miles of piste skiing and so plenty of terrain for beginners and intermediate skiers.
  • No words can convey the sense of awe and wonder that skiing or boarding a perfect line of pristine powder creates, but we have tried to provide a sense of what to expect in some of the main Verbier ski areas.
  • As is the case in all of the off-piste ski areas the danger of avalanche is a major concern and some aspects of the mountain terrain are more prone to wind slab than others. Exploring off piste terrain should not be taken without someone with experience and knowledge of the area and not without appropriate safety equipment.
