Vallon D’Arby

  • This area has easy access and there is a marked ski area when you first enter the valley comprising a huge bowl with reasonable gradients and lines which are not too intimidating. As a result, the main bowl tends to get tracked very quickly. However, there are some stunning lines that descend down perfect couloirs into the valley offering a heart pumping descent although access to these lines requires local knowledge and a head for heights. Even within the main bowl itself there are a great many secret lines, including routes through the trees and if you know how to find them you can be assured of fresh tracks long after the main bowl has been tracked out. The exit from the valley requires poling and skating along a road which winds itself back to a lift station – but do not leave it to late as missing the lift results in an expensive taxi ride!
